This was the first of many en plein air paintings I did during the summer of 2024, as a way to document my travels. My main focus while painting this was the need to capture the movement of the environment around me: the surfers going out for a lesson, the kids kicking a ball in the sand, the flag whipping in the wind. I also deeply wanted to preserve the vibrant shade range of the ocean—spanning from light turquoise to grey blue.
