Blacked-Eyed Susans

2024

Oil pastel on paper

8.5 x 11 inches

This piece was the expression of a concept I’ve thought about for years: what if we had flower petals for eyelashes? This piece is one of my favorite artworks I’ve created. I love the playful color palette, specifically the interactions between the yellow, orange, pink and brown. I also love the implication that the eye is the center of the flower. I hope to further this idea by overseeing a photoshoot centered on the original concept of flower petal lashes.
